Bayzat is a Dubai based company seeking to change the way companies work through their work life platform. Bayzat provides a next-level HR, payroll and insurance technology platform.
I work as part of the design team at Bayzat, helping the company achieve its objectives.

Product development - Outcomes over output

At Bayzat, I collaborate closely with my product manager on discovery, own the design phase, and handshake (not handoff) with engineers on development. My ownership of the design phase means I am responsible for understanding our users, ideating, testing solutions, iterating and handshaking with developers.
I believe that design exists to advance objectives of a business, and design is the abstraction of technology away from the end-users. At Bayzat, my team is able to deliver incredible outcomes through our work on the following:
  • Shift scheduler
  • Attendane experience
  • Time off experience

Rebrand - Helping Bayzat become the Work Life Platform

In late 2019, Bayzat began collaborations with Ragged Edge (RE) to work on a rebrand to establish a new strategic and original positioning for the company. Other team members from Bayzat and I worked closely with the creative team from RE to help land on the brand direction for Bayzat.
With the brand direction and guidelines established, I led the efforts internally to overhaul the interfaces for our web and mobile apps to match the new brand. Also, I worked closely with engineering to ensure thorough execution of the designed experiences.

Uniting product teams through Bayzat's design system

A design system is invaluable in building bridges between teams collaborating together to bring products to life. In late 2019, key members of the design team kicked off the design system project for our web and mobile applications. As part of this endeavor, I worked on the following:
  • Establishing web and mobile type scales and patterns for our design system
  • Establishing guidelines and specifications for components
  • Structuring our reusable components library in Figma
  • Redesigning our information architecture for better navigation and discoverability

Design operations

Outside of my day to day activities at Bayzat, I was involved in some vital design team operations at Bayzat. I led our efforts to transition our design process from Sketch and a bunch of other tools to Figma. Also, I collaborated with our principal architect to establish a design critique framework to help team members run better design critiques.
